Archbishop Soc Creates ad hoc committee for the Pangasinan Translation of the Roman Missal

DECREE

In pursuit of our pastoral goal to renew the liturgical life in the Archdiocese of Lingayen Dagupan and thereby lead our clergy and Catholic faithful to higher growth in Christian piety, we hereby create an ad hoc committee to study, evaluate and revise the present version of the Pangasinan translation of the Roman Missal. The ad hoc team shall be composed of the following clerics:

  • Father ERIC GALIVO
  • Monsignor ORLANDO SABANGAN
  • Father ROBERTO C. MEJIA
  • Father OLIVER MENDOZA
  • Father NICASIO VILLAMIL

The ad hoc team shall be under the chairmanship of FATHER ERIC GALIVO. The process of evaluating and revising the present translation must adhere strictly to the guidelines laid out by “FIFTH INSTRUCTION “FOR THE RIGHT IMPLEMENTATION OF THE CONSTITUTION ON THE SACRED LITURGY OF THE SECOND VATICAN COUNCIL” (Sacrosanctum Concilium, art. 36) Liturgiam Authenticam ON THE USE OF VERNACULAR LANGUAGES IN THE PUBLICATION OF THE BOOKS OF THE ROMAN LITURGY.

The subject of evaluation and review will be the Order of the Mass and the Eucharistic Prayers One to Four. After this team of clerics has done its task basing the evaluation and revision from the Latin editio typica, the same ad hoc committee may consult members of the academe with expertise in the Pangasinan language to contribute to the process.

The first draft of the revised Pangasinan translation  of the Roman Missal must be submitted to the Archbishop by Holy Thursday of 2012.

All rights and privileges inherent to the appointment are granted to the  appointees.
