RE: Recollection for Lay Liturgical Ministers 2012
My dear brothers in the holy priesthood:
In keeping with a prevailing archdiocesan policy that all lay liturgical ministers must undergo a yearly spiritual recollection, please be informed that the said spiritual formation program will start on February 18 until May 26 this year at the Lay Formation Center in Bonuan Gueset, Dagupan City from 8:00 am until 4:00pm. The registration fee will be PhP250 per person. The schedule is attached herewith.
Please note likewise that the Ministers of Hospitality, Music Ministers, Ministers of Social Action and parish convent workers will have their own recollections too as indicated in the enclosed flyer.
Finally, the Basic Formation Seminar for new readers and new extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion will be on May 13 and 20, 2012.
May reiterate a standing policy, that after three years of continuous ministry as reader or extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, these lay liturgical ministers must be advised to take up another ministry either in social action or catechesis. After a year of service in social action or catechesis they may return to the lay liturgical ministry provided they undergo the basic formation seminar again. The rationale behind this ruling is to widen our pool of lay involvement beyond the altar and into the “world”, so that our laity can truly help to “restore all things in Christ” as their lay vocation mandates.
Please choose new readers aged thirteen to twenty five years old and new extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion between twenty five to forty years old.
The Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI has been calling for the promotion of new evangelization. We cannot be maintainers of the status quo. Let us plunge into deeper waters. Thank you for sharing the dream.
Sincerely yours,
+SOCRATES B. VILLEGAS
Archbishop of Lingayen Dagupan
Circular 2011/30: Updating Seminar for Lay Liturgical Ministers
September 26, 2011
Memorial of Sts. Cosmas and Damian
My dear brothers in the ministry:
In pursuit of our pastoral thrust for renewed catechesis and intensified devotion to the Eucharist, we shall conduct the annual renewal seminar for all extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, readers and commentators on all the Saturdays of October and November and the first Saturday of December 2011 at the Lay Formation Center, Bonuan Gueset, Dagupan City from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm. The seminar fee is PhP200 to cover the expenses for the snacks and lunch.
The “I” of ICTHUS, i.e. integration of faith and life, will be the formation theme for this year. The modules on the “Spirituality of the Social Teachings of the Church” will be given by Father Allan Soriano.
Enclosed is the schedule of formation seminars and the parishes assigned for each of the Saturdays.
According to an existing archdiocesan policy, this seminar is obligatory for all extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, readers and commentators. Their mandate to exercise this liturgical ministry will be revoked if they fail to attend the annual renewal seminar. They must bring a letter of recommendation from the parish priest upon registration at the start of the seminar.
I trust that you share my conviction that what the Church needs now is lay formation for true lay empowerment. Please continue to encourage new and young lay leaders from the parish community. I invoke my blessings upon you and your ministry.
Sincerely yours,
+SOCRATES B. VILLEGAS
Archbishop of Lingayen Dagupan
