ALD joins “Holy Heroes” Seminar

The Archdiocese of Lingayen Dagupan (ALD) conducted the Holy Heroes Seminar on February 3-5, 2014at the Madriaga Hall, Archbishop’s Palace, Dagupan City. The said event was organized by the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of the Philippines’ (CBCP) Commission on the Laity as part of the Year of the Laity Celebration. 

The Holy Heroes Seminar was attended by 130 participants who are mostly Catechists from the different parishes within the Archdiocese. The seminarrevolves around the theme, “Called to be Saints, Sent Forth as Heroes.” This focuses on the vocation of the laity to live holy and heroic lives.

The three-day event is a part of the second series which was divided into four modules: (a) Lay your Heart to be Holy; (b) Lay Down your Life to be a Hero; (c) Lay the Foundation of the Holy Hero; and (d) Lay Down your Heart. The topics revolved around the following: (a) Sacrament of Baptism; (b) Sacrament of Confirmation; (c) Values of Holiness and Heroism; and (d) the Formation of the Communities in practicing to be Holy.

Monsignor Jose Antonio Galvez of the Diocese of Malolos gave the introductory lecture of the seminar. The speakers of the seminar were Ms. Lydia M. Collado, a member of the Religious of the Sacred Heart; Ms. Rica Lavilla, a experienced youth minister and Shari Espiritu from the Miriam College. Binmaley Welcomes 424th Town Fiesta Celebration

Starting on January 24 to February 2, 2014, the town of Binmaley celebrates its 424th founding anniversary with two theater plays entitled:“P.S I Love You,” and “Papuri at Pasasalamat sa Panginoon.”

The second day paved way for the annual Sigay Festival and Kalutan ed Dalan which was attended by the townspeople and those from neighboring towns. As always, Binmaley is proud for their perennial feat.

Different pageants and competitions were also highlighted such as the: Fun Run; Cycling Event; Seafood Cookfest; Battle of the Brains; Battle of the Bands; Street Dancing; Ms. Gay; and Bb. Binmaley Beauty Pageant.

His Excellency, Most Reverend Socrates B. Villegas, D.D., Archbishop of Lingayen-Dagupan, solemnized the closing ceremony of the town’s merriment on February 2 by presiding the Mass at Our Lady of Purification Parish. His message was brief and simple: “Of all the parishioners in Pangasinan, you should be the purest.” Archbishop Villegas’ homily was about waiting to be purified, meeting Jesus to be pure, and going to purify others. San Fabian commemorates 297th Founding Anniversary

The town of San Fabian celebrated its 2014fiesta with the theme “Dalan ya Mattek: Tombok na San Fabian ed Aliguas na Ekonomiya ya Pan-nanabangan na Karaklan.”It was officially launched with a Thanksgiving Mass officiated by Fr. Abraham Esquig on the 12th of January following the 18-day town festivities.

His Excellency, Most Rev. Socrates B. Villegas, D.D.,Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan, solemnized the Holy Mass on January 18 as part of the fiesta celebration.  In his message, he emphasized the significance of being humble.

On January 20, Most Rev. Jesus A. Cabrera, D.D., retired bishop of the Diocese of Alaminos, presided the Mass.  He shared the life of the town’s Patron Saint – St. Fabian, Pope and Martyr and emphasizing the values of the Ten Commandments.

The Mass was immediately followed by a Rite of Confirmation attended by the parishioners. A solemn procession in honor of St. Fabian was conducted in the afternoon.  It was joined by different barangays of San Fabian. The celebration concluded with a Mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Reynaldo V. Romero.
