24 February. Archbishop Oscar V. Cruz, DD has given his endorsement to the two groups of the Couples for Christ to exercise their respective apostolates in the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan. In a circular letter addressed to the clergy and the religious of the Archdiocese, the Archbishop urged those concerned to welcome the two groups unless he provides otherwise.
The Couples for Christ is now officially split into two groups. One that is identified with the “Gawad Kalinga” and the other headed by Mr. Frank Padilla now known as CFC-FFL or the CFC Foundation, Inc. In another letter, the Archbishop made the clarification that the CFC-FFL has remained true to the original charism of Couples for Christ which is categorically that of caring for the family and promoting life.
The formal clarification and endorsement made by the Archbishop came about because of the inquiries made by some members of the clergy regarding the status of the CFC and how this affects their pastoral ministry with regard to the Family and Life Apostolate.
